Recording of Friday’s Class

One of the benefits of Virtual Conferences/Professional Development sessions is that it can be recorded. The recording allows you to control the pace, finding the moments you want to watch again.

Fun with Avatars

Some of you have already discovered the fun in creating an avatar or cartoon version of yourself. This is an activity that I do with 4th graders every year as part of my Internet Safety/Digital Citizenship lessons. It is a fun way to help kids find an alternative to sharing pictures of themselves on their social profiles. You too can have fun in creating your own avatar to share on your blog (this is an optional activity).

These are 5 of my favorites-

Diigo – Making Bookmarking Social

How do you bookmark the resources you find on the web? Do you create a bookmark/favorite in your browser? Do you save to Delicious?

Last summer I experienced Diigo and I was hooked. It not only gave me an online solution for saving my bookmarks, but it also allowed me to create groups to share my links. As a member of a Diigo group, you can schedule daily, weekly or monthly updates for new links. A Diigo library is also a great way to share links with your students. Here are the digital storytelling links I think are most helpful share in a ‘tagged’ list… http://www.diigo.com/user/plan3t_t3ch/digital_storytelling.

Diigo is a very useful tool for maintaining my Personal Learning Network. As a member of any Diigo group, you can schedule daily, weekly or monthly updates for new links. Many of the links I find, I share on Twitter or to other Diigo groups. I am a member of several Diigo groups from subjects ranging from Project Based Learning to Internet Safety. Each week I get an e-mail sharing all the latest links shared in this group. My two favorite groups are;

Installing the Diigo Toolbar is a must. With this browser add-on, you can save and share your bookmarks in a few simple clicks. Check out this video for support.

I created a Diigo group for ED554 called MU_ED554 to share links with you and other educators around the net.

Create a Diigo account (can use your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts to make it easy), become a member of a group and begin sharing.
